I have always wanted one of these "Z" type of heads and this one is everything I want it to be! Very well made and works flawlessly. One thing that really impressed me is that it comes with a removable threaded insert (see picture) that allows it to be installed on a regular 1/4" screw mount or the larger threaded mount that my Bogen tripod has. Holds all of my cameras firmly, even my superzoom full size Sony's. I dont have a dslr to test with but it feels plenty sturdy for that to me. The built in bubble level is handy, but mostly I like the range of motion and how stable it is.

As with many things on Amazon, now that the return window passes the device fails. The poor quality screws used to loosen or tighten the platforms strip out or break off making the thing unusable. I was using it for mounting a polar aligned camera for astrophotography. Camera was at best three pounds.

I decided to buy this for use on my star tracker despite the lack of reviews, both on Amazon and the Web in general, as it's about half the price of the Move Shoot Move alternative. Happy to say this is a winner - it's strong enough to hold my Nikin D7200 + Tamron 150-600 lens without shifting when tightened by hand. Sturdy with a decent weight handling capacity. The joints are multi fingered so you have more surface area to clamp down on. The knobs allow you to apply a good amount of force. It locks into position without sagging. There's a 360° panning pivot that moves smoothly and can be locked in place.
