Having a remote comes in handy and this one works well and is very reasonably priced. You can shoot single shots or slide the button forward to use the bulb function. The cable is about 3ft long so one might want an extension for certain set ups. It is the 3.5mm TRRS - 4 conductor male pin that plugs into the camera remote socket.

Good cable length. I like that the button can be locked down for rapid shots or for long “bulb” exposures. I’ve used it to photograph birds at feeders, long exposures of lakes and rivers, and astrophotography. It's a great tool to have in your bag if you do any of these things which require minimal camera shake.

This review is for PHOLSY Wired Shutter Remote Control Cord C8 Shutter Release Cable for Canon. I like the ability to lock the shutter button for bulb exposures. Surprisingly long shutter button travel may take some getting used to. Purchased this even though I have a wireless remote. This is "plug and play", a lot faster than changing settings on my camera so that it recognizes a wireless transmitter. Operation was intuitive for me. Device is not flimsy and worked well with my Pentax K-50. Too soon to know how durable the device is but I can buy three of these for what my camera brand device costs and there is no telling if that product would last any longer.
