If you eat bagels, buy this item.. I bring them home from the store, slice them and put them in my fridge in a plastic bag.. This item works really well.. Much better than sliced fingers when using a knife.... Worth every penny..

Not to be provided to anyone like Mrs. Bobbit. It is a miniature guillotine, well constructed and does its job. But, it is dangerous and should be stored in a place which children cannot access. There is no safety lock or other device which i would propose to the manufacturer. Possibly a spring loaded button on bottom.

I got this for my husband who loves bagels but has had a stroke. It is easy for him to use but takes a lot of pressure to get down through a bagel. I feel for someone like my husband who uses one hand the base needs to be bigger and sturdier. Sometime when he is pushing down through a bagel the apparatus falls over to the side. We even tried putting it on a damp rag as we have granite counters in the house but it still falls over.

Lot's of comments about the blade smushing bagels when try to slice them with this tool. Here's a tip to avoid this - I keep my bread and bagels in the fridge so they'll "keep" longer. Since the bagel is firm coming out of the fridge, it's a lot easier to slice it using this tool. I just slice the bagel, pop it in my toaster oven for 4-5 mins and the bagel is perfect. The tool hold most larger bagels too.
