This recipe card holder is the perfect size for any kitchen. It's aesthetically pleasing, well made, and it will hold a recipe card at just the proper angle to make it easy to read. Given the materials, I expect it to last many years and to be easily cleaned (by hand) should sauces or foods be spilled on it. The bagel slicer is a well made product, but with one small problem. It's size is fixed, making it unable to slice smaller bagels in an even and equal manner. I found myself making some cardboard shims that I could insert on either side to address this problem. I recommend that the manufacturer recognize this problem and provide a set of wood or bamboo or plastic shims that could be inserted at will, depending on the size of the item to be sliced, and stored within the slicer when not in use....

I needed another kitchen gadget like a hole in the head but . . .after slicing my finger cutting an oversized English muffin in half I went for it. My dad was a chef and I can just see him rolling his eyes for buying something like this but I'm awful with knives. This was a waste of time and money! It arrived crooked and with one side falling apart. Well, I figured since time is an issue I can just glue the one side back. I put it on a shelf and when I got to it, the other side fell off too! This made the lid come out, since the sides held it in place. I still toyed with fixing it, but noticed it was built crooked and not able to fit side where it should be. The hinge pins fell out of the lid and I could not find them. I just threw it in the trash.

Not crazy about this as it might be too small for some puffy bagels, the wood can be easily damaged (accidentally nicked it with my knife, and slicing all the way down is going to scratch and damage the bottom. Recommend placing some paper towels on the bottom to prevent damaging the wood while slicing down. Seems like a good idea in theory but in real life, some durability and practicality flaws.
