Note that this product is intended for flat ethernet cable. There is the R6G088-R-10 product for round ethernet cable. That said, I used this product on round cable and it worked fine. I've never seen a flat cable so it didn't cross my mind that there were different types of connectors before I ordered. Also there are different types of connectors for stranded vs solid conductors. I ordered these specifically because it says it's for flat cables. However, these were not at all compatible with the flat cables I have. I did not find problems using them for round cat5 ethernet cables but my main purpose in buying these was for the cat6 flat ethernet cables I have.The main reason these don't work for flat ethernet cables is those cables have different wiring inside. they are much thinner than the usual wires in round cables. Seems to be as good a quality as any. What you see is what you get. Four stars because I have a hard time giving any modular connecter of this type a higher rating. None of them are particularly robust.

I purchased these RJ-45 ends to terminate cat 5E stranded wire. I haven't crimped any ends on in a while and thought I was out of practice because my failure rate was quite high. However, I did a detailed analysis of the failures and found the following. If I did not squeeze the crimp tool rapidly, the copper plates which are pushed down by the crimp tool and pierce the wire would deflect to the right or left (instead of moving downward) and piercing the wire. I do not know the cause of this....
