I've built literally hundreds of Ethernet cables. Early on it was closed-end connectors which were really a pain, then pass-through which are easier but still some work. With an upcoming project where I'll need quite a few more cables, I figured out I'd try with this method.The connectors appear to be well constructed, with some aspects being metal and some plastic. I have never used this type of connector before but have hand terminated a few cables with basic rj45 ends. This was an interesting experience. I did not have to fit with keeping the individual strands in the correct order as much so it was easier.It is not cheaper but if you are only doing a few cables then they work great. I needed to run one cable under my house from one end to the other and this made it very easily to do.

I needed to run a thicker CAT6A cable between the router and a switch in the other room, so I picked up a set of these mostly out of curiosity. Honestly, I’m not that clued up when it comes to networking, but the fact that you don’t need a crimping tool caught my eye. Getting the wires into the insert takes a bit of patience – if you push them in wrong, you’ll need to pull everything out and start again. A little fidderly to use, due to size, but works well enough and allows you to create that perfect length lead rather than getting one too long and having to coil the end. Quality is good and I like the inclusion of the cap, for when it not in use.
