I have all the Hanayama chess pieces now. I like the pawn as it's not difficult, but clever. As with all Hanayama puzzles, it's beautiful to look at and feels wonderful to handle. The chess pieces mirror-like finish is second to none in the line. The just stand out the best. This would be a good starter piece as it's not very difficult to solve. My experience with the Hanayama Cast series of puzzles demonstrates that they come in a wide variety of difficulties (1-6). While the Pawn is expertly made with a clever mechanism to unlock it, it should only take most people 5-10 minutes to solve with simple manipulation and trial-and-error. I'd rate it a 1 on Hanayama's scale.That said, it is still fun to play with afterward (though peoples' opinions may vary) and makes for a great start to a Puzzling Chess board!
