So my first impression was that it was shorter than I thought it looked in the picture. If you were going to use this with just a phone, you can get it about 11 inches away from the windshield. But...If you are going to use it with something like an ipad, you really want to use the little foot that's included to hold the pad steady which means it's much closer to the windshield.And, if you are just using your phone, and you aren't using the foot, the motion of the car makes it almost impossib...

The media could not be loaded. This is not an aviation device; it is a car tablet holder. Even the box and the product instructions inside the box are for road vehicles. I tested this with a very light small tablet (Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite) and the arm is not stiff enough to hold it in position (see details below). This is by far the best tablet mount that I have used for my vehicle to date. It holds my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro right where I put it without issue. This is easy to attach to the window and it holds strong, its been in place for over a month now without moving at all. This is easy to use, simply attach the suction cup where you want it, insert your tablet, position the arm, and lock into place. I have no doubt that this will last a long time, it is built to last.

This holder has an oversized suction cup and all metal arm. It's well made and sturdy, but there is an undocumented and nontrivial installation trick that I have only found by chance reading someone else's review on a similarly designed holder. The arm has only one adjustment which is a knot in the middle. But not only it controls its middle joint - all three arm joints are controlled by it if you really tighten that knob with a great strength!
